What Is the Family Child Care Startup Grant?

  • This program helps individuals open a licensed Family Child Care (FCC) home — a small, home-based business that provides care for young children.

  • You’ll receive financial support to purchase the equipment and items needed for your license, plus personalized help to get you up and running.

  • Offered through Friends of the Future, this program is designed to remove barriers so you can focus on what matters: caring for keiki in our community.

WHO CAN APPLY?

If you can say “yes” to these, you may be eligible:

You are opening a licensed Family Child Care Home (FCC) in Hawaiʻi County.

  • Shared Services Platform

  • USDA Food Program

You will complete 30 hours of required training with PATCH.

You have submitted a DHS application and have been assigned a licensing worker.

You will participate in:

You will care for two toddlers or keiki under the age of three in your home.
